Pig’s Fame in Japan

By Atomou with help from his daughter.

“…So Choshi is actually in Chiba prefecture, and it is the most eastern point of Japan.   From there you can go to a place called ‘chikyu maruku mieru tokoro’ which coursely translates as ‘the place where you see the round earth’.
It really is quite breath-taking, as it’s a 320-degree view, but to me it was about 350!   I’ve always been shitty at maths, so haha.
It’s hard to capture this feeling with photos, so I took a video of it by simply turning around.   Hopefully I’ll be able to upload it.

After that we went near the lighthouse, down the cliff and walked around the rocks.   They have fun ripple formations everywhere, and Keiko said that she and her family would go and play there catching crabs and such.

We then drove to the port tower, where there is a massive fish and souvenir market.   I bought some cubed sardines to put on rice, and some kamaboko, your favourite fish cakes, paps.   They were the fried kind, so they had different flavours: curry, vegetables, squid, ham and cheese.  Unfortunately they were a bit too oily sweet for me.  I think I prefer the steamed ones.

Choshi is also famous for soy sauce, and apparently it used to stink of it many years ago before it became a sight-seeing place.   I didn’t smell it at all yesterday, so I wonder what’s changed!

Anyway, I better go and let you have a look at the photos, and then you can get back to me with any questions you might have.

Does the Choshi Cricket Club have a good team?
Where are they on the ladder?
Is their one day form better than there four day form?

So many questions, so little time

It’d take no time at all to answer them all, hoopla!
They hate cricket -but they love damned baseball, soccer and sumo, though sumo is dropping off the “to do” lists of the common folk in Japan. More a “sport” for the Jakuza to launder their dirty, filthy money and their dirty, filthy fingers.
Where the daughter lives, in Kashima, they have a very good soccer team, called The Antlers, taken from the real animals they keep at their local shrine… where they also keep the longest sword in the world, I believe, around 4 metres(?). The shrine is quite famous. Built around the time that Troy was demolished by the Greeks, somewhere in the 7th c. BC. And that area is reputed to have the greatest swordsman ever!
He musta been a big bugger to be able to wield that monster but then again, that’s what myths are made of: bulldust!
