If I still lived in Adelaide, I would hustle down to see and hear you and your mates. Now, I have a strange urge to find the Chieftains on Youtube.
Have fun, and lots of noisy folks in the audience.

Thanks Yvonne… it’s the thought that counts!
Dunno why all the piglets left Adelaide… My armpits don’t smell THAT bad! 😉

Coo… nice to see they have a spot for me! And, of course, it’s on a ‘wing and a prayer’! (Story of my life!)
Btw, I’ve been practicing lately with a few members of a traditional Irish folk band called ‘Gallowglass’ and a couple of them will be supporting me as members of my own ‘band’, which I’m calling, ‘Parting Glass’, for our first gig, which is scheduled for June 21st at the Irish Club, 13 – 15 Carrington Street, Adelaide,
I don’t really suppose any of the piglets will be able to make it, as I think none of them now still reside in Adelaide or its surrounding ‘burbs… but it’d be nice if they did!
I’ll be the one with the guitar (and a limp!) 😀

A sty, congratulations ! Can you get someone in the audience to video some for us on their phone? I’ll send you a drop box address if that helps.
Have a great gig !

Originally the gig was going to be for 26th July, when my sister Debbie, whom I haven’t seen in over 35 years will be visiting from the UK, so I was hoping to be able to get her to wear my ‘hat-cam’ (Go-Pro) and record the two, thirty-minute sets we plan to do.
Not sure what to do now… maybe we can find an audience member. Or maybe Paul can persuade his missus, Roseanne, to come along and do that bit…
We’ll see… I was planning on uploading it to my YouTube channel anyway, if there’s not too much background noise, but if I do post it, I’ll send you the link, if you like.
We’ve only practiced together once so far, but have maybe enough time for one or, if we’re really lucky, two more rehearsals before our first gig. (We also have a second gig slotted in for 23rd August). So the first one could be a bit ‘hit ‘n’ miss’… but at least we didn’t sound too bad at our first rehearsal, so I’m optimistic!
The line-up will include me on vocals and acoustic guitar, Paul O’Donnell on vocals and bodhran (pronounced ‘bor-an’; the ‘d’ is silent. It’s a traditional Irish drum, played with a double-headed drumstick), Chris White on fiddle (IF he’s back from Asia by then!) and Dion on tin-whistle.
We’ll be playing a lot of traditional Irish folk songs, so it’ll be a change from my usual blues/rock/pop repertoire!
I’m looking forward to it. If nothing else, it’ll get me out of the house on a couple of Friday nights in the next few months!
😀

Hey, Therese, I posted videos (unfortunately automatically cut into 12 minute sections by my Go-Pro) to my YouTube channel… Here’s a link, for anyone interested:

My new traditional Irish folk-band, “Parting Glass” has a regular last Friday of the month gig (except for August… that’ll be the third Friday… the 23rd) for the next few months… ’til November at least! And when I ‘just happened’ to mention to the Irish Club’s entertainments manager that “… traditional Irish folk is NOT my ‘main thing’…” he asked if I want to do a solo gig too… I accepted, but we have yet to fix a date (or dates) for that gig. It doesn’t pay, but I get a couple of free pints of Guinness! 😉
