Following on from recent lists delving into Beat music, I thought I’d look at one band The Animals or Eric Burdon and the Animals. Burdon was from Newcastle upon Tyne, where the band started. They moved to London in 1964. The Animals performed mostly R&B, rock and blues in later year’s psychedelia. The band was also a part of the British invasion of the mid sixties.
In the early days they’d cover versions of other bands mostly American blues. Like many of the bands of the sixties they broke up in 1968. They reformed in 1975-76 and again in 1983 when Burdon left the band for good.
The Animals reformed yet again in 1992 and a still performing. This list looks a songs written by Burdon and the bands have written in the 1960’s, except for the last which was the single release from their album Love Is after the band broke up for the first time.

Many thanks as always, Algy. This list, like so many of your others is both enjoyable and a good education – filling in many gaps in my last four decades where I wasn’t paying sufficient attention.
As I post this list, I have the Jam pushing out of the iPhone and into the Bose speaker bar under the family room TV. These are the best times and also the worst times.
The Guardian reported today that Paul Weller’s lates album has just gone to number 1 in the US – equalling Lennon and McCartney’s number one album in every one of the lat five decades. …. hence the Jam, and I’m looking forward to hearing Weller’s allegedly continual re-invention.

The Jam great band, one of my faves from the time. Paul Weller’s ability to reinvent himself is just amazing. I’ve heard a few tracks off the new album, marvelous stuff..
I saw Paul Weller at the Opera House a couple of years ago. Mrs A knew little of him, apart from The Style Council, so set about educating her. What a concert, the whole place heaved, everybody up dancing which is no mean feat in the concert hall. She came out and said that was the best concert she’d ever seen, I could only agree. That was until I saw Elton John earlier this year, which was simply brilliant.
