Here a bit of light relief for those that are queueing up to get those bargains. Did anyone see the news, those young people rushing the stores, trampling over each other for another blue tooth or items with buttons? Did you see that woman pensively holding a handbag as if it was the very last one on earth? She put it back on the pile though. Iron woman.

No post Xmas sales for us. Just a lot of sitting around reading or playing the piano, or occasionally browsing on the leftovers, dropping in here.
Not much to say, nothing coming to mind….

What I did see was a woman in David Jones, holding an Italian dress up at a journo and angrily saying, “I could buy this dress in Italy for $150 (?)!” The price tag showed something well over a thousand bucks (1,400?).
She was fumingly angry and angrily fuming, so she put the dress back on the rack.
The sales, the sales!
I’m reminded of a scene:
Romeo: (sees the nurse approaching)
Here’s goodly gear!
A sail! A sail!
To which Benvolio responds with:
Two, two; a shirt and a smock.
Buy the lot, why not? Remember the shares, the shares!

ato, my neighbour, Angela, originally from Sicily is a fantastic amator dressmaker, up there with Armani, so she does not shop for clothes when visiting Italy; she buys shoes…
I totally understand her, you don’t have to be a fashionista to buy Italian footwear, you just have to value what’s best, and if you pay $1000.00 for the imported pair here, why not stock up when travelling in the region…and get the same for $150,00, (they last.)
(Rivers’ rubbishy boots start unravelling on way to the farm from the shop)

H, a thousand bucks for shoes? Gorrrrd! What are they made of, diamonds?
Talking about fashionistas, are you as amazed as I am with the clothes Lee Lin Chin comes up with on SBS? They’re bloody dazzling! Two nights ago she appeared with something much less flamboyant than all the other dresses but she looked as if she had just disembarked some space ship! We were cracking up with laughter over that one!
But it’s usually frills and colours by the million. And that hair!

Yes, ato, she is what they call a fashionista, but gorrrd, aren’t her clothes funny, very very complicated with zippers and weird collars, Gez has to hush me most evenings, I can’t stop laughing….
When Thomas was three, he said she looks like a weird eagle bird!
Blokes love the ABC’s Juanita, but I can’t stand her, there is something very ungenerous about her, she’s very dismissive of the weather man. I don’t like the hard looking blond either who’s the weekend relief reader, can’t even remember her name.

I can’t remember any of their names or faces, H. Never take any notice of them. But how can one not notice Lee Lin Chin with all her paraphernalia?
I remember Mary Kostakidis and I reckon Anton is cool but by and large they all (at SBS) seem like they’re twits when they try to interview someone.
At least the ABC has journos doing the reading and the interviewing so the questions and answers are sensible. Still can’t remember their names though. I do recognise their faces when I see them but that’s about it when it comes to news readers.

Anton is cool indeed, and we both miss Mary, Gez perhaps even more than I,( I still got Anton)

Emm, First mate is a clever girl, as you still have a young one there, leather is the best, easy to clean and it always looks good and it lasts; we still have our first Brazilian leather lounge which we bought in Holland and later shipped to Australia.
Daughter’s light coloured lounge is starting to look less light with kids and dogs living on it; I advised her to go for leather next time.

Lucky you, Gez. The First Mate stuck me for a leather lounge and a companion chair – that were a) reasonably priced to start with and b) discounted 50%. But …. ouch !
