Steely Dan Lunch With Gina

Warrigal, another question you might know the answer for is has Mark Knophler ever performed Hey Nineteen live with Steely Dan?

hey hung, i know you like the letter ‘h’, but theres’s no ‘h’ in knopfler 😉

Knopfler was a guitarist for hire on Gaucho but I think he only played on the one track, “Time Out Of Mind”. Knopfler may have sat in, jammed or been a guest on live shows and played “Hey Nineteen” in that context but I’ve no hard info on that.

Sorry WM I thought he did the solos on Hey Nineteen

I think that was Larry Carlton or Hugh McCracken. It sounds like them both.

Sounds like Mark “No H” Knopfler to me

Tutu and I voted this as one of their best ever tracks. It used to introduce some late night music show whose name escapes me.

PS: We also emailed the Dan site to have this included in their live set but to know avail. Fagen had said that all us fans could call the set list and they would play the ones most voted for.
The only really old one they did when we had out turn ant the Ent. Centre was Black Friday.

Here’s another one I missed.
And what about this one by Toto, so close to the original it can be nothing more than pure homage to both the process and the product.
and this one, another homage.
Its really hard to re arrange SD. Becker and Fagen had these things tied before note one was recorded. But I do particularly like Rikki Lee Jones version of Show Business Kids.

Yes. A good version WM. Did she also cover Rikki Don’t Lose that Number as the song was written about her?

I always thought that Rikki was Rikki Ducornet which the following Wikibio seems to support.

I know of no version of “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number” by Jones, but she has covered other Becker Fagen compositions and some co witten by her and Fagen including the following;
You’ll recognise this tune as having been a hit for our own Dazzler about 20 years ago.

I was just about to log off when I spotted your post Helvi.
I would suggest that you listen to Steely Dan, one of my all time favs.
I have every one on vinyl. I adore them.
I stayed up late to fire a couple of salvoes at Mulga in the Tietze blog.
Nite nite.
