About gerard oosterman
Artist, blogger and writer of hundreds of thousands of words with bad grammar and out of syntax as an extra bonus. All in a certain order.
I came to Australia from Holland with my parents in 1956 and have looked back ever since.
Here are some of my verbal doodling and reminiscences.
Ravi Shankar’s the man.

My father played the sitar. Wonder where his sitar is now? Must check. Also played piano, guitar (acoustic), clarinet, fife, wax-paper covered comb and any musical instrument he laid his hands on really. Thought he could sing. Nobody’s perfect.

A young then friend of mine (my flattie’s friend) played sitar, Voice. He was a solo dad in southern Queensland and took all our kids (4 under 5) to the circus with his kids. 🙂

Saw him live in London with the whole symphony orchestra conducted by Andre Previn. It was fantastic.

Lovely music, just heard some on ABC, Yehudi Menuhin thought listening to Ravi Shankar was like going upstream and discovering the place we all came from…or something in that vein…
Afterwards more pleasure, Sicilian singing, real heart and soul music, I feeling better for it.
