Tom Waite certainly has that nich market cornered. I don’t know what one would call it Warrigal. I kept waiting for the video to start. He’s magnetic and enigmatic. Effing unusual too.
I loved the photos on Country Joe. Brought back some memories.
My personal favourite here is White Rabbit. I was absolutely smitten by it at the time It was so unusual and melodic. It seemed to fit in with the time too. I was sharing a flat at 21 Colville Terrace, just off Portobello Rd. Great times for me. We all thought that we were bullet proof – of course.
I worked for The British Airports Authority at Buckingham Gate (seconded from The Ministry of Aviation); my office overlooked Buck House gardens. The tradesman’s entrances actually.
A suit in the daytime and a token hippy in the evenings!
I saw Grace Slick, on Ovation the other night. She was in a documentary about Jim Morrison. It was sooo long ago. Amazing.
Bob Dylan’s cheeky rendition deserves a place her. Another clear insight.
I had thought to spruke a Credence Clearwater song, however I got confused. I was thinking of Fogerty’s ‘ Who’ll stop The Rain’… I think. But when I looked it up, it was about Vietnam. There you have it an admission- in the blog – by an older, confused, mistaken, part time hippy!
There’s still about 3, that I haven’t played. ..Time is tight*.

What happened to Gerald Finzi and his music? He wrote some very nice music and also saved some of the UK’s rare apples.
It’s not often that a musical artists is also a well known horticulturist. He died of shingles before the advanced stage of it was diagnosed as encephalitis..( according to Wiki)

Sorry, now in love with Kyle Bronsdon, well, not him, the man, his singin’!

Yeah, yeah, that’s what they all say. First it’s their singing, then it’s their whatever…
I used to tell girls to come to my place to check out my postage stamps… first!

It’s a fantastic cover, ay Biggums? Perhaps my current favourite dan cover.
I hope HOO is looking in. I know he’s fond of a good Dan cover.

Yes, Hung is a Dan tragic. Mrs M took me to see SD when they were in Sydney recently. Probably the best rock concert I’ve ever attended. Those old blokes can still play, and, even in the bit’s that are supposed to be done by the new band members they’ll still keep playing right over the top. Plus the lighting was super-sharp and the sound was excellent.

I can’t find my way around this table
And I can’t find way around your face
And I can’t find my way around your body
And wasted days turn into wasted nights…
of course the first verse of David Byrne’s The Cowboy Mambo. Make of poetry and find inspiration as one might… I love it. It’s fun to belt out, the tune is catchy, the instrumental a delight, the words are ambiguous. Each to their own. Roll over, Beethoven.

One of my all-time favourite live tracks is The Rumour’s version of that “Trampps” song “Hold Back The Night”. I had it on pink vinyl, an EP called “The Pink Parker”. It too went in the fire.

Yes thats a favourite of mine too. I’ve got a bootleg copy of “Live at Marble Arch” somewhere here, one of the great live albums.

Marble Arch. Harry Pinter wrote a tiny play, sketch, really, that mentioned it. Trying to think of its name… Nope!
Ah, yes! “The Black and White”… Methinks.
Loved those little plays. Used them quite often in my English classes.

Always have to listen to JJ Cale for nostalgia reasons.
And Tom Waits for different nostalgia reasons. Plus, it’s poetry really.

For an encore he came out and sat in an armchair and gave a running critique of the Don Lane Show. Priceless deconstruction, the entire audience was cracking up.

Some of his songs were censorized even in his OWN country, Ato! The System hates ANYONE who tells it like it is!
