Tommy played a number of concerts here in Albury. Went to two of them. The first was ab fab to the max as they say. The second one was too drawn out and full of slightly wanking obscure stuff and then he did a one hour encore. It was a very late night – he played tooooo long and spoilt it. He was playing for himself and not his audience/fans. But it was an interesting experience.
I noticed that Jake Shimabukuro is playing at the Sydney Blues and Roots Festival, Algy – hence my excursion into the youtubes.
I have to say I’m not a big attender at music festivals – usually the cost and so often really shit organisation (read uncomfortable venues, ridiculous drinks and food costs and long delays) keep me away. Byron in the wet season ? No thanks, regardless of how good the artist line-up is.
Thanks Therese and Helvi… As a matter of fact, I like to think I’m making great progress with my guitar-playing! The latest fingerpicking blues I’m learning is really quite tricky, but it dunn’arf sound good! “Old Mississipi Blues” it’s called… I’ll post it as soon as I get a decent recording down… maybe along with my first efforts at ‘Delta-Slide’ guitar…
My drummer Abner and I have started practicing together again too… so perhaps more musical posts are in the wind…
Well… I think I might be able to raise a wail and a gnash or two, ‘Shoe… still polishing the lastest addition to the repertoire; but am getting close to thinking about recording it…
You can use one of mine Algae; I’m getting a new one tomorrow!
My dsp finally c0mes through tomorrow, so I’m buying myself a nice nylon-string acoustic as a reward for having ‘stayed the course’ and won at least half a victory… I still have to fight for the rest of the arrears though…
In fact I really need a nylon stringed guitar right now: since my accident my fingernails wear down so quickly on steel strings that the ends of my fingers get very sore on that hand… I’m hoping that the softer, nylon strings will solve this and let me practice my fingerpicking as much as I really ought…
It’s a Fender CDN 240 this time (for guitar buffs); and I also have my eye on a nice little 40 watt Fender valve amplificator! (After all, it’s nearly christmas… and I HAVE been VERY good!)

If there is a great deal of wailing and gnashing of teeth out of that guitar, asty, the pub’ll be well and truly on the map. 😉
