Keep on Running – Spencer Davis Group

Alge, this is one of your best selections…to have so many of my favourites on one list; Nina Simone, Carole King, Simon and Garfunkel, Deborah Harry, and others…better than getting an chocolate Easter egg….
Oops, that was not a fair comparison as I don’t like chocolate. 🙂

Thank you vivenne. A few favs there.
Did the tornadoes come close to you last week?

Missed us in that they stopped around Rutherglen as they travelled west to the east. From my home to Rutherglen is about a 40 minute drive but as the crow files it is closer than that sounds. But we have had our fair share of unseasonable and damaging narrow fronted storms. The last one earlier this year took out trees by snapping them off half way up, demolished one of our neighbours sheds completely. Missed our house by about 10 metres but left a lot of mess. Back in Rutherglen the good (sort of) news is that only one winery suffered severe damage – but all the grapes had been harvested.
Keep those good vibrations coming. Sam Cooke’s stuff was always good, so glad you gave him a gong.

Well that’s good to here that you weren’t affected. As for Sam Cooke well I can always find a place to put him on a list.

How about two little boys: Rolf Harris…guffaw.
This went unnoticed last week, however it may be more appropriate with the family theme?

What is supposed to be noticed last week, P?

You may not know, down in Adelaide, but Rolf has been arrested for paedophilia.

Two little boys – Adelaide – the family team
(and I mean t-e-a-m … team)
Now I get it!
But I don’t know why such matters are occupying your mind during a long holy-weekend. Is it boredom, curiosity, habit or the mere mention of The Honeycombs? If it is curiosity or fact finding why don’t you go down there to Adelaide and hire a private dick, or ask a journalist mate of yours from Murdoch Empire to do some research & investigation. No one with balls has cracked the story yet! …But one female with balls who has just started digging has been assassinated in a lift by an interstater a few years ago. Since then there is nothing but zilch…

hph, perhaps Rolf Harris is a Labor voter, Persecuted only likes Liberals 🙂

Someone fitting Rolf’s description has been assisting police. Not arrested or charged. The person has not been named. It is at this stage all rumour.

There is no creditable evidence YET that it is Rolf Harris, though much is being made of the arrest of an 82 year old from Berkshire (Rolf’s 83 but only by a day). Mind you its headline news in the Phuket Wan so if it’s in a publication of such pedigree in may be true.
Its of interest for P as the Gold Coast is the nonce capital of the country.

It appears all hush hush and none of the MSM appears to be sticking their necks out. Yet!
Or it could be just a beat up. Whatever, it’s all nasty stuff.

That is not proof – just saying so. Not arrested, just questioned and let go. But either way what is the point of spreading scandal. You should get a gig with the Murdoch press – they love that kind of shit.

To be fair even Phone Hackers International are giving this a wide berth at the moment, vivienne. Not one MSM outlet is giving this a run. So it’s either a cover up or a beat up.

Viv, Persecuted’s mate Act Rationally has so many pseudos that she gets a bit confused at times. She can’t cope with the fact that we write under ONE name or ONE pseudo.

Viv, I just saw the post, something about tax perks….she must be suffering from Helvi-itis 🙂

Helvi, I think P and AR are one and the same and to the best of my knowledge ‘it’ is a he.

Viv, Persecuted is Julian and Waterloo Sunset, Hadron and many others, he has always been open about his pseudos .I find him harmless… .:)
Act Rationally is a female, she has much more aliases than P, and she never admits to any of them; she hates Gez and I when we say something good about Norway or about the Finnish education system… She is Liberal, and doesn’t want anyone to say anything critical of Australia…..I better not say any more, I believe she reads Pigs Arms…

Yes frightening isn’t it, I try to avoid clips with him, this is a best of list though. Did you notice the ornamental instrument playing. The drummer going hell for leather without actually touching the drums.

I could counter that. Algernonia the younger did a bit of DJing on the local community radio station yesterday with two friends. The local schools get a gig each day for an hour. Once they settled in they were good and played some really good local modern music. A couple of Gotye tracks as well.
But I take their point and generally agree, a lot of popular music since the mid 80’s has been fairly ordinary.
LikeLike
From mid ‘80s onward, music sounded similar to Milo commercials on TV. Remember “Get up and Go Go” by George what’s-his-name?
Then, the repetitive machine-gun-like-sound of the drums coming out of an electronic organ used to drive me up the wall.
LikeLike
It’s the drums that get me with more contemporary music and as you say the electric organ. Some of it is quite good and doesn’t rely on what is standard for most. Much of last weeks list whilst not up to the standard of the music of my youth was very good and wasn’t over drummed or organed.

My favourite to date. Thank you SO much. My claim to fame…….I knew Spencer Davis and dated Rod Stewart when he was poor.

Suppose my biggest claim to fame was when David Bowie walked into the pub I was working in. We had to usher him upstairs to stop people pestering him. Huey Lewis was another to grace the pub. Edward Woodward objected to the price of a pint.
Glad you enjoyed this selection.
