Terrible for Gez. Helvi was one if a kind. We met on just one or two occasions almost a decade ago. She had a quiet gentle and sunny disposition. And I’m sure Helvi brought a lot of love and joy into the world. One cannot do better than that – hers was a life lived to such a high standard. Vale our dear friend Helvi.
I’d not checked out Gerard’s blog since the election and see it all went down hill with a fall and two broken arms in late June. Awful set of circumstances. An infection. Too sad.
I wonder how the person whose driveway improvement was the trip hazard that caused Helvi’s fall.. is feeling now. Such a sad and capricious train of events.
Do they even know? If they do – well? Shameful that they didn’t do a proper job. Gerard obviously not happy about conditions in the hospital. Infection control not good. Just a sadly dreadful story which should not have happened. I’ve spent such a lot of time in hospitals last two years and yet have a totally different story. Our Base Hospital in Albury, NSW, is actually controlled by Victoria. We have a whole cross border situation. The Cancer Hospital is on same site and houses all the radiation, chemo stuff and blood testing, too. If you’re crook this is a good place to be.
FM works at a renowned hospital – and had surgery there 14 years ago. She says it’s been trading on an historical reputation for years – which is no longer deserved. Not enough nurses, and too many high turnover agency nurses, some doctors who are just money hungry grubs, too much penny pinching on services – food and cleaning especially.
FM would not go there for another procedure unless she had to.
I totally get that – things are not always what they are cracked up to be. What we have here has a lot to do with local agitation actually working. If you wanted to do a tree change with your retirement, come here – Albury Wodonga and surrounds.

Health Care is such a lottery isn’t it.

Interesting tree change idea. I’ll see what FM thinks about that.
Local agitation in a marginal balance of power seat ! Clever Indie voters 😊
