The Dump

The Dump is:
For posting comments that don’t get up at the Drum, and for having a pleasant, mirthful or enlightening off-topic discussion.
It’s not for personal abuse of other commenters.
Please do that somewhere else if you must.
Play nicely or piss off.
However, why doesn’t a poster add a link for us to read and comment on here, much quicker. Maybe we can do a bit more bagging here, not that I speak for the moderators, yet.

NB: Being tiresome and boring, racist, sexist or just plain creepy is not playing nicely.

give a crap

———-

The Pig’s Arms exists because a dozen or so years ago our other favourite playpen – the ABC’s Unleashed blogsphere started to go off.  Like a sack of prawn heads  in the sun.  Something had to be done.

Moderation was taking forever.  Comments seemed to be rejected randomly – outrageous ones appeared and reasoned ones were pinged.   When they released the Drum / Unleashed ….. things actually got worse !

So many pieces from professional writers appear with no obvious merit.  And the moderation has become, to put it frankly, appalling.

As a former contributor and a commenter, I was deeply disappointed at the plummeting quality from our pre-eminent media empire.  And I resented so many challenging or dare I say, witty or funny posts in which we’ve invested seconds of our precious time – getting the chop.

So here, for all our benefit – is an open slather blog.  Copy and paste your best rejected comments here for posterity.  Does not matter whether you’re posting on the Guardian, First Dog on the Moon or wherever else.

And sprinkle pointers to the Pig’s Arms amongst your comments.  Let’s try to rescue some of the old faithful.

Cheers,

Emm.

We’re thrilled, Jerome Laxale will be a great Local Member. Checked the booths amazed how what I found he won most the booths including all the Eastwood and Epping (but not North Epping) booths that is unheard of. The Eastwood booths are predominantly Chinese votes like 58% Labor.

The Liberals could have won the seat had the picked Craig Chung, but Scotty the Stupid picked a star candidate. The rest is history.

Lots of talk. Tomorrow will be 10 days since the first phone call. On Friday I was waiting for an email with the consignment note that never arrived along with the follow-up phone call. TBH I could have engaged a computer repairer and had the computer back by now. It’s that its probably a warranty job that I’ve speaking with the manufacturer.

Thing is the calls have all been polite but it should have been escalated after the second call.

            Beyond frustrating.

Some success. Computer being picked up on Wednesday. That’s after 4 phone calls and an email today

Today’s claim was that they had the wrong serial number, email address and my name wrong. I pointed out that I replied to an email they sent me with the correct details. Pointed the multiple mistakes were at there end and excuses.

Anyway up to two weeks without the computer.

Algy, I couldn’t bear it ! I buy all my computer stuff from In Touch in Lavington. Have for many years. They sell and maintain lot of gear for business and only deal in a couple of PC brands which happen to suit me. Will come to my home to install. I can take to them to upgrade or repair. Fortunately the computers don’t need fixing. Had the odd minor problem but all fixed by remote control.

This is a laptop workstation viv. Its high end spec thinking I’d still be working part-time. This is a brand PC bought through their website. Its a very good computer until this problem. It still has just under three months of warranty left otherwise I’d have gone to a local repairer.

Apparently it will be picked up tomorrow but I’m still waiting on the consignment note. Part of the problem is you never speak to the same person twice and they all appear to be offshore. None of them seem to check the thread.

I’ve never had a problem with the brand before but this is simply incompetent and unprofessional.

“Morrison and his mob campaign by telling lies about Labor and Albanese and offer no vision, just more of the same. The media repeat all this and then have the nerve to pose questions to Albanese which are just a repetition of Morrison’s accusations/lies. Then the media have the nerve to tell all who listen and read that they don’t know who Albanese is or what he stands for. Morrison makes plenty of gaffes and we hear next to nothing about them. Australia has a problem.”

I’ve posted similar things only for them to be pulled. For a leftish publication there is a lack of balance in their commentary from some quarters at this election. There seems to be more balance at the SMH who seem not to be too worried at calling out Scotty the Stupids lies.

  15. For Richie Benaud enthusiasts and those who like quirky things. Its 2:22:22 pm on 22/02/2022 or if you like 22/2/22, where it is currently 22 degrees in a suburb with many 2’s in the postcode. What will it be a 22:22:22 this evening.

Morrison’s performance at the National Press Club was wonderfully bloody awful. I was at the computer on the Guardian blog listening to it. Later I watched a bit of it as I’d recorded it. Morrison was reading from auto cues mainly to his right. Explains why it wasn’t a total wirlwind of blurred words. He read it and so spoke differently.

    • I was speaking with our butcher on Monday. He’d been copping abuse all day. He cannot get deliveries of meat, has been told that the order he puts in one day won’t be delivered the next. Not enough drivers. He looked haggard with it all.

This has been a complete clusterfuck from Parrothead and Scotty the Stupid.

People need to stop being stupid, this will pass in a week or two. Shortages after Christmas New Year which is also feeding into this are normal.

      • The international shortage of Adblue has also impacted on supply chains. Evidently Morrison did get off his arse and liaise with Incitec to produce a similar product.

I agree, people need to stop abusing the little people for shortages that are outside of their control.
