The Dump

The Dump is:
For posting comments that don’t get up at the Drum, and for having a pleasant, mirthful or enlightening off-topic discussion.
It’s not for personal abuse of other commenters.
Please do that somewhere else if you must.
Play nicely or piss off.
However, why doesn’t a poster add a link for us to read and comment on here, much quicker. Maybe we can do a bit more bagging here, not that I speak for the moderators, yet.

NB: Being tiresome and boring, racist, sexist or just plain creepy is not playing nicely.

give a crap

———-

The Pig’s Arms exists because a dozen or so years ago our other favourite playpen – the ABC’s Unleashed blogsphere started to go off.  Like a sack of prawn heads  in the sun.  Something had to be done.

Moderation was taking forever.  Comments seemed to be rejected randomly – outrageous ones appeared and reasoned ones were pinged.   When they released the Drum / Unleashed ….. things actually got worse !

So many pieces from professional writers appear with no obvious merit.  And the moderation has become, to put it frankly, appalling.

As a former contributor and a commenter, I was deeply disappointed at the plummeting quality from our pre-eminent media empire.  And I resented so many challenging or dare I say, witty or funny posts in which we’ve invested seconds of our precious time – getting the chop.

So here, for all our benefit – is an open slather blog.  Copy and paste your best rejected comments here for posterity.  Does not matter whether you’re posting on the Guardian, First Dog on the Moon or wherever else.

And sprinkle pointers to the Pig’s Arms amongst your comments.  Let’s try to rescue some of the old faithful.

Cheers,

Emm.

UK election results coming in – makes interesting reading. Note UK has more pollies per population than we do. Proportionately overall they have an extra 250 of them.

Indeed vivienne, Coates won fair enough, he probably was going to anyway. But Roche receiving 35 votes tells me its not comfortable and the sports that make up the AOC are not happy with the status quo. There are many sports that are so small they probably wouldn’t survive without the funding and in many of them nepotism is the norm. The sport I talk about one family ran the show, That family held the top four positions and thus control. when they left there was an audit of the books and found large sums that could not be accounted for. There were 6 competitors left in NSW once they left, It’s now on a steady footing.

Walter what I don’t get is why people troll on line. I don’t get what perverted pleasure trolls get out of it. I also find it interesting that you pop in every now and again and choose ONLY to comment on my posts and nearly all of them derogatory. I’ve said many times to you that this site never sees a piece that others can comment on. Everybody else who comments here puts up pieces, some more often than others. But you Walter never do.

I find also that those who come here talk about what they do and those around them albeit in an obtuse way. I’ve never heard you speak about those around you. In fact from your writings over the years, suggests you’re single without family. You may have a daughter, I don’t know she may work again I don’t know. But Walter from your own writings over the years I’d be surprised that you’re old enough to have a daughter who is working. Bit like your jobs they seem to be varied from your writings as well. I don’t know what you do and frankly don’t care.

As for the royal family, I have little interest in these accidents of birth and any of the privileges or the obscene amount of money spent on them to go out and visit the peasants. If you bothered to read the piece it was a waste of time, much like the acres of sycophantic rubbish that is written about them. Are you aware that Andrews brother, the future head of this country has someone put his toothpaste on his toothbrush for him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he employs a Groom of the Stool. Yet for you it was an opportunity to go off completely on a tangent.

Walter if you get some onanistic pleasure out of trolling then bully for you. As I’ve said many times I’ll take you more seriously when you submit a piece here for others to comment on. But that isn’t the trolling way is it. Perhaps I’ve given you too much oxygen. I’ll let you live in your delusions.

Bank woman: $30 fee to do transfer

Bank woman; or $12 to do a bank cheque. Me – I wanted it done electronically. I can write a cheque out anytime.

Bank woman: I could give you $ CASH and you could walk over and up to ANZ bank in Lavington.

    Me: I might get mugged.

Me: here is the account and BSB details

Bank: we need the address of the bank

Me: (thinking, you don’t need address, just those account and bsb things) somewhere in Wodonga

Bank: have to have the street address. I could give you cash ….. blah blah

Me: I think I’ll just give my daughter a cheque after all.
