Larga vida Julian! Me creo que espero!
And that really must be an end to this Algy; though I’m at a bit of a loss as to how you failed to understand the Spanish language songs when you come back with this. Or have you generated this through one of those on line translators?
What was that movie where the Mexican guy is talking English as if he completely understands the complex situation at hand, but when his English finally runs out he has to admit, also in English, that the only English he knows is that first sentence and this one explaining that one. It’s one of those hilarious moments when you know you may never remember the film but the gag will stay with you forever.

Well you know Warrigal with whatyou can find on the internet anyone can be a polyglot.
Not sure of the movie though.
You might enjoy the subtitles on this one.

Warrigal, at least you did not use any Google translations; ‘vida’ means ‘life’ and ‘vivir’, ‘to live’ 🙂
I learnt some Spanish many years ago at one of those Adult Education classes, only pity that the teacher from Barcelona was such a distraction, a dish as NZ friend would say…

And Algy; life would be pretty dull without a musical set piece from Bollywood, and this one’s a corker if you’ll excuse me being a dull “boar”.

Just something that came to mind. When I was in Iran, in 1978, I bought some cassette tapes of their popular singers. Partly as souvenirs and partly because I love music.
I used to play them in the car in London, just to perplex my passengers. Some of it was quite good. I’ve always been attracted to that style. It must go back to travel in my youth. I love Gypsy music, which of course filtered through from Northern India to Southern Spain–taking in Hungary, Eastern Europe, Persia ect, and influencing Egypt as they settled along the Nile banks.
Possibly Valens, as a matter of fact, since the Hispanic sound is a patina arrived at by the melding of Spanish & Afro music. That has just occurred to me….Havens’ sound. All the way from India to S. America; or C. America in his case.
I discarded my old cassettes, as the formats changed.

Oops, just noted that I slipped into Havens there. Another brilliant artist. Richie this and Ritchie that. I need some caffeine.
Got a couple of Ritchie Havens LPs.

You should give us some more of your wonderful life in narrative form Jules. I’d happily gag on your yarns of London in the 60’s and playing Oud music to passengers in your car is definitely something you should talk to someone about. It may as well be us, don’t you think?

Yes it (The Persian mix) was just a bit of nonsense to go with your awful Spanglish.
The Cuban all stars were Santana, with one’s eyes closed .
I hadn’t heard that Richie Valens number before it was great. I have always admired ‘Albatross’ by Fleetwood Mac and found some similarity. Have a listen when you have a mo.
It led me on to reminisce…sigh….you bastard!!

Persian poetry VL?!?!
Do you know what it says or are ya jus’ tuggin’ me chain? Please, throw little more light on the subject.

Waz, it’s all over the net!
It’s a piece constructed to offend the Iranians by mixing the two languages, arabic and farsi (Persian/Iranian).
Apart from it being gobbledigook repeated over and over again it is also like spitting in the eyes of the Iranians who consider themselves far superior to the arabs.
In effect it says this:
“If the light is moved by the shadow and the eye wall, staring role we don the role of light, if no other shadow shadow moved. R was not found shade and eye wall staring role we don the role of light, shadow, if not other shade was not found
The role of eyes staring at the wall and we…
If the light is moved by the shadow and the eye wall, staring role we don the role of light, if no other shadow shadow moved. R.
The role was not to find shade walls and eye shadow staring role again we don not find a shade light, if not go wall-eyed stare Our role
If the light is moved by the shadow and the eye wall, staring role we don the role of light, if no other shadow shadow moved. R.
The role was not to find shade walls and eye shadow staring role again we don not go shadow if the light is found
The role of eyes staring at the wall and we
If the light is moved by the shadow and the eye wall, staring role we don the role of light, if no other shadow shadow moved. R was not found shade and eye wall staring role we don the role of light, shadow, not again find shade if not go wall-eyed stare Our role
Shadow. R was not found shade and eye wall staring role we don the role of light, shadow, not again find shade if not go wall-eyed stare Our role”
But you will see the extent of the offense if you read the comments on this blog:

Thanks Mou. I wondered why it was impenetrable. Sche took a look and said, “It doesn’t make sense!” and then “either that or it’s just appalling poetry!”

Do you think Peggy Lee’s Fever could sneak in with this lot. I think Beyonce covered it a couple of years ago and she is the only person to do that successfully.

“Fever” is on a list about two weeks away, from memory. I had no end of trouble finding a decent version. Youtube is not as flash as you’d think. I often have difficulties finding the versions of songs I want to include.

Sorry I missed it Warrigal. Some times I pay a lot of attention to various posts and others I do too fast a skim. At that time I was also doing a small edit/proofread job (one or two hours max) which turned into a nightmare (6 days!) as the job wasn’t what I was led to believe.
