Following on from one hit wonders here’s a chance to post the worst songs ever. Now we all know that it comes down to taste and there’s no accounting for that so be gentle now.

Hung, you are too tough 🙂 Like asty, I kinda like, or at least, used to like The Rivers Of Babylon and Betty Davies Eyes, even I don’t fancy blond girls like asty, but rather used to like blond tanned Swedish boys…
It all comes down to taste H. As a young man I was very attracted to Kate Bush, beautiful looking girl. A few years back I was given a couple of her albums, bloody terrible, couldn’t listen to them and placed them in the trash can.
I liked it, and some of their others Hung. I don’t know why…but I found them funky.
I remember staying at Las Selinas in Lanzerote, and the DJ played, “Brown girl in the ring”; I’d had 6 beers and 3 full tumblers of cuba libre, with a lime twist……After the 5th request I though it was the best track ever. That’s after dancing with “señoritas who can sway”….AS The Mavericks sang……
Here’s one of my favorites at the age of about six… Now I think it probably qualifies in this category, although it is beautifully performed and Ray Peterson’s voice is gold…
And actually that version was apparently by some dude called ‘Larry Verne’, who probably wrote it; but my mum had it on 45 by Charlie Drake with ‘Glow Worm’ on the other side, when I was a nipper… If I can find Charlie’s version, I’ll post it, but I must say I do like the above version; they’re very similar; just a slightly different voice.
This one surprised me, I didn’t know Tommy Cooper could sing… and I’m still not entirely sure he can… but check out the lyric to this one: “Don’t Jump Off the Roof Dad”
Well… I kinda love ’em Hung… they’re very funny songs, but the could all quite probably fit in the ‘worst songs’ category, although they’d probably also do alright in the ‘best comedy songs’ category…
Gawd !!! I remember it – must have been two different singers but it is much the same. Tell Laura I love her ………………… he was a fuckwit. No, just too painful to be liked.
Asty – apart from a lot of goodies from the 60s and 70s (The Who, The Stones etc) – this is what I love – Midnight Oil, Goanna Band, Metallica, Blondie,
Mama Mia the musical (really, I do love it – went and so it with Rhonda B in it), a lot of current Aussie bands whose names I can’t remember, most of the guests who appear on RocKwiz, and of course Peggy Lee singing Fever.
When I said you’d probably ‘like’ it, Viv, my tongue was very firmly in my cheek… but I’ll bet that at the very least you had girlfriends who thought it was ‘just dreamy’…
I think we are a pretty clever lot at the Pigs Arms – our likes and dislikes in music are pretty much in sync. Some great one hit wonders up there now. Thanks for thinking of putting this stuff up Hung – you’re a genius.
You are welcome. Have a go yourself Viv. Go to youtube, search for your song, click on the one you want, copy the link that’s in the search bar at the top of the screen and then paste that into to comment box and post, easy hey.
I can’t believe he was a Captain in the British Army and served in Bosnia; I can’t believe the Empire has resorted to child soldiers whose ‘nads have not yet decended.
And singing through a nose trumpet too ! Appalling !
I’m assuming that he’s someone important’s boy. Otherwise inexplicable.
I don’t understand women, some go weak at the knees at the thought of Mr Blunt warbling away, accompanied by the three cords that he can play on the guitar.
I agree Emm, didn’t know they made army uniforms that small.
