I sometimes miss the last traces of bohemian Sydney (as tiny as it seemed) in Rowe Street that disappeared with the construction of the MLC Centre in the early 1970’s.
I’m delighted to have found a fascinating research project on Rowe Street – at the Powerhouse Museum Here it is …….. for your enjoyment

I enjoyed having a look at this fledgling exhibition, Emmjay. I even saw a pair of earrings -by Anina- in ‘Art and Design’that remind me strongly of a pair I hesitated to admire in an op shop earlier today, so I will have a closer look when I return there…if they haven’t been snaffled by the time I get back. Somebody has done a lot of writing as well to present the exhibition so nicely.
Small mercy too that the website works very well … and responds to command rapidly. That is a delight. Thank you Mike.

Perhaps it’s the OTHER Rowe street – the one that used to run between Pitt and Castlereagh in the city – parallel and just north of King St 🙂 Oh, I can see your dilemma – the bohemian-ness of Eastwood is world famous 🙂

Oh that Rowe Street now I get it. They look the cats pyjama’s in the photo don’t they.
Bohemian and Rowe Street Eastwood no those words don’t go together at all. A little piece of Asia maybe but definately not bohemian.
