This was Kyle Sandilands’ on-air response to a journalist after she reported poor viewer reactions to his new TV show on Monday night. News outlets are calling Sandilands “vile” and his comments “filthy” — but advertisers who fund his shows are standing by him and his offensive comments.
Holden, Vodafone and the Good Guys have already pulled out — but others like Telstra, Harvey Norman, Mitsubishi and Medibank all fund Sandilands’ show through their regular advertisements. Some have even issued statements distancing themselves from Sandilands — they’re trying to get away with directly funding his radio show, without taking responsibility for the sexist and derogatory statements he makes.
The last thing any of them want is their brand to be associated with the community backlash over his behaviour. A huge show of public outrage at their support for him will force them to pull out of the show, and put pressure on the radio station to d! rop Sandi lands.
We know sponsors are incredibly sensitive to community outrage — this won’t be the first time they’ve ditched him. Just two years ago, a 14-year-old revealed she had been raped on his show, and he asked her if it had been her “only” sexual experience. He was immediately dropped from Australian Idol, and Optus withdrew online advertising [2].
Join Emily and tell sponsors to withdraw their support until Sandilands is dumped.
Add your voice to Emily’s now — you’ll convince them they need to withdraw or risk their brand being damaged in the huge community backlash. The station will have to listen, and drop him to keep their sponsors.
Voices in the media, on Twitter and across the community are unanimous — Sandilands has gone too far this time. Join Emily in sending a resounding message to sponsors that they need to withdraw their support for the show, or they’ll suffer the same backlash as Sandilands.

Oh, Vectis Lad is only defending Bolt because he’s a right whinger… I mean, a right-winger! (Though I think I was also right the first time!)
But, as I’ve never listened to ANY of the shock jocks, I can’t help but wonder if ANY of them has EVER said anything whatsoever that was worthy of discussion… somehow I doubt it, or perhaps I’d have heard about it even though I avoid such shows like the plague… The only place I’ve even heard their names is on the Dumb… and I can’t even be bothered to read most of the articles which mention them… I think it’s only the mentally deficient who would pay them any attention at all!

Since one needs to be supporting something before one ‘withdraws support’ for it, I cannot comply. I was only barely aware of the name Kyle Sandilands and if asked prior to reading this story what he did, I would have been unable to answer.
However, I can only add that I am constantly amazed by the kind of radio announcers Australia seems to enjoy… it is a poor reflection on Ozzie taste, or the lack thereof, IMHO… Such people would never get a gig in the UK; indeed they’d be lucky to avoid arrest under vilification laws.
It reflects too, exactly the same kind of sychophancy that schoolkids exhibit when they support the school bullies as the latter pick on and bash weaker kids who cannot defend themselves… is this, I ask myself, what passes for ‘courage’ in this merry old land of Oz?
Grow up, Australia! PLEASE!

, that’s what amazes me too. I was totally unaware of Sandilands but remember him as that nasty bloke bullying those on shows. He would , oh so condescendingly, stare at the miserable contestant and demolish them with his stare. Yukky man, yukky show, But just as yukky for people to watch him. Surely music, reading or just staring at a wall would be better?

Abbott and Gillard both have Law degrees, Abbott attended St Johns College at Sydney University. Its a college with a proven track record in misogyny. Abbott has never practised Law.
Gillard attended Melbourne University and also practised law and was a partner in a law firm prior to going into parliament. There is nothing to link the larcenist boyfriend as you say to Gillard, that is a smear.
Abbott is a great supporter of mental health, evidence please.
Slipper was the deputy speaker, the LNP was looking to destroy the man his position within the LNP had become untenable so what would you expect him to do. Wait two more years whilst they kicked him from pillar to post. On this Abbott lacked the political nouse to see what was happening. I don’t expect him to fight the next election, the LNP might wake up to themselves and replace him with Turnbull.

Since when was ‘freedom of speech’ the freedom to insult, vilify and victimise people, Gerard? People like Sandilands give ‘freedom of speech’ a bad name! I’m all for ‘freedom of speech’, but I also think there should be some kind of law in place to defend those who cannot defend themselves against such vilification!

I take it as high praise indeed. there is a consultant anaesthetist (who’s name is Mark) who tells me to ‘fuck off’ every time I see him. At a caesar he will tell the mum. “Everything’s alright now, love, they’ve sent the oldest neonatal nurse to resuscitate the baby!’
