About Therese Trouserzoff

I think that in a just society, no mining magnate should be forced to go through life without a moral compass. OK for media magnates and cardinals to do so, apparently.

Down with communism…Give me individualism any day.

At least The Liberals know what their sphincters are for. I just hope that one of the Independents goes walkabout and Feet Slipper, gets his cojones caught on the side of his throne.

    Ato:
So, if labour is bad, the liberal alternative is a precipice from which we will never recover. The labour party has men and women of vision. Liberals with Abbott will put us in league with the Twiggies and Bolt’s of this world, a kind of Bjelke Peterson nightmare, our nation forever hiccuping and braying on a bike with pumpkins as wheels.
Of course our treatment of refugees and the indigenous is appalling but this also reflects on our nation’s psyche whose xenophobia was well nurtured during the Howard’s years. This will take a decade of (Round-up) weed killer and slashing. It will take a weed killer with strong residual qualities. Only then will we slay the monster of our morbid fear from moving forwards and wellcome change. On its grave will be written; Here died our national millstone: ‘If it ain’t broke don’t fix it’.

While Julia is not the Messiah, she has achieved a hell of a lot. This should be measured against what the alternative noposition Abbott would have (not) achieved.

Nope. If I want to encourage my students I don’t say to them, “look how bad this student is, do you want to be like him?” I show them how they can be better, without any comparisons at all, least of all comparisons to the worst.
It’s crap to suggest that it will take a long time to humanise our treatment of the refugees, or that it is because the Oz pop is racist. Look at how this Govn’t has handled it so far. Look mostly at their attitude and their vomit inducing rhetoric: They have not the slightest wish to be anything but bastardly on this issue and on all the other issues I’ve mentioned plus more. They neither have the morals nor the competence. If they did, they wou;d have made inspirational headways on them. How long did Gough take to install Medibank, free Unis and a thousand other great things?
This lot -as pretty much their predecessors in the same party, do a couple of reasonable number shifting and then sit on their arse.
And they go on kidding themselves that they’re great.
Well, they’ll soon find out just how great they are when they’ve no indians and only dithering chiefs.
Some things take a bit of time -just a bit, mind but in the meantime, you can tell the people that you’re definitely heading that way and why it will take that little bit more time. What this lot is doing is disparaging and treating with disdain those with any conscience or goodwill.
Someone, Alpo, I think, said that it’s good that the Gvn’t is in a coalition-minority situation because the others, the Greens and the Indies take a bit of the rougher edges of the ALP’s policies and make them look good. That’s bloody frightening to me! Labor should be doing the right thing not because they don’t have the numbers but because they do -when and if that ever happens!
Comparing them with the gutter crawlers doesn’t raise them above the gutter.

Just so you know, “wherefore” means “why” as in “whys and wherefores” and in Juliet’s famous monologue she is asking “why are you Romeo (and not someone else)?”

Frankly on this whole topic of Julia Gillard as our Prime Minister and the ghastly treatment meted out to her by many in the media and in particular by Alan Jones et al and from the Coalition – I have this to say – apart from being Labor haters, most are plain old misogynists.

Men get excused from all sorts of failings – Bob Hawke is a prime example – he was shagging women all over the place, before and during his PM years. He propositioned my best friend at a party dinner I arranged (she told him to piss off).

Couldn’t agree more vivienne. A male PM wouldn’t have to put up with nearly a quarter of the shit that Julia. The Parrot wouldn’t put up an hour of hate filled bile like he does to her either if it was a male. I find him grossly indecent.

If Julia carried on like Hawkey she’d be called a slut.

Julia has been part of ‘giving’ the gay community more rights than they ever had before. I believe her decision to not go the whole way is purely political. It is not what she believes I am sure.

The fact that they ‘go the whole way’, is acceptable; however, two queers and a satchel of uranium doesn’t make a family (a marriage)..IMHO.

Civil partnerships is what they need. Marriage is for normal queers.

Ah, the real politic. ANd the art of the possible defeating the ideology and aspirations of the young.
I remember when Peter Garrett sang ” US forces get the nod”…. and now they have – yet again – but then more recently, Peter has had trouble fighting his way out of roof insulation and a wet plastic bag, has he not ?

        For goodness’ sake mates!
“She’s not against gay marriage!” That’s crap! If she wasn’t, it would have taken five minutes to sort the bloody thing out. What is this bullshit about allowing the change to the platform but not allowing the bill to pass? WTF?
To admit that I’m too woosy to do the right is thoroughly indecorous, if not a total betrayal to her office.
And it’s not just the gay issue. There are now far too many important social issues for which she -and her bloodyminded turd lickers- avoid or stuff up.
Gez noted all the economic things they’s achieved. I don’t know if that’s really of any value to someone whose shitty working conditions have been treated with disdain by this mob; or an aboriginal who’s been shafted even more; or a refugee, remember these Gez? You were quiet eloquent about our appalling treatment of them not too long ago. Anything changed yet?
Or America’s power over our lives. Has anything changed from Howard’s days? What do you think Julia and her stool sitters would say if History brought to them Hicks, instead of Assange? They’d be doing exactly what that maggot Howard did. Where do you lot see the difference?
Schools? WTF? Still subsidising the super rich schools. Some classrooms and some maintenance, coming out of taxpayers’ pockets. Now if it had come from a redistribution of educational funds, that would have impressed me.
A tax on mining super profits? What happened to that?
How different are their environmental credentials to those of their Torry brethren?
I remember the days when I was one of their most fervent members. Meetings were constantly fully attended. Debates raged. Resolutions taken, letters sent to the head office. What did they do with them all? Tossed into the never-never filing cabinet!
Looks like nothing’s changed on that score since then -except of course, the jaded membership, which just gave up and went home.

This shitty Labor Govn’t had better pulled its intellectual and moral socks up and get into doing something on the side of virtue instead of the indifferent or, worse still, of the evil.

        Please! Stop this bullshit idolatry!
And, by the way, I regard Hawke as a dumb, sleaze bucket and Keating an eloquent killer but both as betrayers of the majority of Laborites.
The ALP has turned into DLP just as the Libs have turned into One Nationites!
Time someone told them what they’re really made of!

Ato, there is some truth in everything you say but you miss the point that this is a minority government and getting anything done has been extremely hard. Women know they prefer perfection but it is not possible. Most of us live with imperfection every day although their husbands think they are never ever wrong.

The idiotic promise to maintain private school funding as it stands for the full term of the agreement and then not to radically rearrange it…. very hard to fathom. In the same basket as the baby bonus. Very hard to take away what has been given. But you ignore that they have been crucified for other decisions already taken and get little credit for the good done. Only now are more people coming to realise the mining companies are ripping the country off.

The majority of Australians seem to prefer the drip feed. Changing the mentality after nearly 12 years of Howard is not easy.

So, Vivie, you’re saying that the Greens, Wilkie, Windsor, Oakshot will vote against the reforms I was suggesting could be implemented immediately? Will any of them vote against on shore processing? A reasonable carbon tax? A fairer mining tax? A fairer distribution of Education funding? A more reasonable approach to our relationship with the USA? A little more thought before shouting Assange is guilty, or admitting fault when the Feds say he’s guilty of nothing?
No, they’ve got the numbers they need, Vivie all the numbers to do the right thing and if Julia is the hot negotiator she’s cracked up to be, then why isn’t she negotiating with them? The answer, to my mind is at least twofold, a) ideological. It’s not in this mob’s ideological DNA and b) they prefer to be seen as tough, self sufficient leaders and not agreeing with anyone else, even if it means good ideas are canned and their own reputation screwed.
It’s at least twofold and both reasons reflect badly on them.

As for the misogynistic crap. Well, yes, women find it difficult and generally get more crap thrown at them but who the hell listens to misogynists? If someone dislikes what she’s doing as a PM they’ll say it. If not, they’ll say that too. The shit media would do the same to any non-Torry leader -male or female. Make Bronwyn Bishop the PM and you’ll see the fawning adulation poured all over her.
Tell Mrs Ato she’s having a difficult time with any of the men around us and see what she tells you.

No, the labs have gotta get out of their troglodyte ways and act like they’re connected to society and society’s values. No excuses. None!

I’m not going to comment in detail any further – we are going to go round in circles. I think our PM has enough on her plate at the moment. By the way, the gay marriage bit – quite likely to get passed in my opinion. Turnbull calling for conscience vote. Julia may well vote for it anyway! I don’t like Assange. I’m not fussed about 250 to 2000 GIs spending some time here. I think education funding will change in the not too distant future. Misognists abound on Drum/Unleashed (bloody Bob Ellis) and in the media and people read and listen to them all the time. Those double standards make me sick.
I’ll always vote Labor or Green.
