I don’t know why they don’t admit it when one fones up. They led me on a song & dance, to no avail.

I love her Voice, Me and Tutu rated her as the best white female and Ella Fitzgerald as the best black female singer of all time, just ahead of Nina Simone.

I think our own Rene Geyer is pretty damned good, but made the mistake of revealing her ‘lack of blackness’ in the States, so never made it big.
I’d agree about Dusty and Ella. Nina had a great voice, but sacrificed her much of her career to fight for Negro rights.

I think Renee Geyer has a great voice, though making money out of the music industry in this country is always hard. Those who did were much by chance. White girls singing soul is also a hard gig. Her drug addiction probably didn’t help her cause either.

Thanks VL, It’s a selection I like. I saw Harry chapin in the early ’80s I think. Great concert. It was a matinee. The concert went so long it went 15 minutes into the next.
