This is a wonderful reference, Big. Highly recommended for people who want quality science and best practice proof. It also details how so called “science” can fail when the review mechanisms don’t work – and when arseholes like Andrew Blot take up the material with vigour.

I am an astronomer by trade but John Hunter (who co-authored the article) is a sea level expert. The Conversation article is, in part, based on a comment that was just published in Coastal Engineering (Hunter & Brown 2013).

I saw that clip when it first came out. Unfortunately it won’t play well here – stops and starts etc.
But it is a good one and should have hung around for a lot longer.
