Beds are Burning – Midnight Oil

Last night Quentin Dempster had a story about Sarah Blasko on State Line. I was most impressed by her, beautiful singing…I have heard of her, but I was not aware that she was so talented…I been Googling her, she is also amazingly beautiful…

I saw that too helvi, thought she had a fabulous voice but was suprised to find that she was 36, always though she was a lot younger, in her 20’s. Writes a lot of her own stuff but can’t read music.

Diana and Dusty for starters, then I’lI see, maybe Midnight Oil, Stevie Wonder…or might just check out that lovable naughty boy, Benny Hill.. 🙂

Don’t know some of these but I’m with Helvi with her preferences.

LOL, Viv, I often agree with you. Sometimes I’m going to say something on The Drum and then I see that you have already said it….the Mods don’t like too many’agrees’, I have noticed….Same with Alge, he often takes the words out my mouth 🙂

Think you’re right there Helvi, can’t have too many of us lefties agreeing with one another. I often try to post comments from piglets but find they’re often moderated. Yet I note the resident parrot Alf seems to get any amount of spiteful comments up.

Yes, Algy – and why is that the case. We get post after post of inane comment (not comment, just snide useless comebacks) from the likes of Alf, Rusty, Andie (you know the ones) yet we good guys get pinged. Not bloody fair. I lot of my posts over recent weeks have not got up and they are not rude, just informative or fact filled. I really am thinking that the moderator is a total bastard and a plant from the Liberal party !

Viv,I really do not know where I am on the Drum anymore, on Jeremy Fernandez story I tried to say something about Howard and Hanson, and now Abbott and Morrison are making Australia more Xenophobic, they did not get up.
Yet that silly Liberal John (it’s a woman) who hates asylum seekers was there telling that we have to the neuter Jeromy’s abusers, he/she is the biggest hypocrite there…Would like nothing better than White Australia policy back…

Alf freely admits they are a member of the Liberal Party but says nothing just inane one liners, they are a really spiteful piece of work. A couple of weeks back a post they usual inane Liberal rubbish on something not even political and they parroted some partisan claptrap. Gave him a serve that clearly put them on the back foot, so did others. Two days later the same garbage. Even those we know get into the inane Liberal commenting (parroting) act.

Right then, so if the moderator wants the comments to be controversial (or something similar) why put all the crap stuff up and disallow most of our good stuff. Does not make sense. Makes me and others angry. Not just on the Drum articles but on those other opinion pieces just prior to it. Why do they allow so much garbage which has nothing to do with the topic and those liars who claim their non-left stuff gets censored (it doesn’t). The ABC is definitely not being fair – what kind of dumb game is it and why suddenly stop allowing comments. Why not have a known time limit.

Viv, I read a good article by David Horton on his Watermelon Man Blog; he seems to think that ABC is leaning more a more to the right….I could not watch that silly Nicky Savva on Insiders…

I just endured Nicki Savva on insiders, she sounded like a female Piers Ackermann, nothing whatsoever constructive in anything she said. I noted she writes for The Australian, they also had George Melalogenis on the only saving grace there.
I agree vivenne, I get tired of the moderation of those of our ilk but not of those whose views are bordering on extremist. It frustrates me that when you get into a decent debate with someone that the mods choose to moderate one of your posts and leave the argument without the chance of rebuttal. Perhaps they’re moderating in line with how the MSM thinks the state of play is, then find themselves out of kilter when real opinion is different. Q&A was a good example last Monday, an audience of Western Sydney who just rolled their eyes when the poodle just poodled along treating them as mugs. Mind you I’m getting sick of Western Sydney this and that. The electorate is more than that.

I was thinking of throwing in a couple of Python clips here but will leave for later editions. Not a bad choice there, Iike a few of the others as well.

And what a name shoe, Wally Whyton. Gives Svetlana Gruebersolvik a run for its money.

I did some reading about Wally Whyton, algy. Well, I never. I never once once saw a recording of his before that I remember. He sounds innocuous enough regards being a children’s entertainer. I skipped some stuff that we won’t like on today’s market. I was surprised to find this.

I did too and found him to be fairly influential in the early 60’s in Britain.

This isn’t bad, shoe. The name got me, Wally is fairly derogatory in Britain. The cover was pretty cheesy I though.

Wally in Australia has the meaning that is reasonably good natured or malevolent depending on the setting, that someone is a little of a fool or not ‘the full quid’ or whatever derogatory ideas stem out of someone being intellectually challenged, but that just isn’t really very nice and all the Walters I have ever known refer to themselves as Walter, not Wally. “Wal” is not uncommon.
