and it’s all downhill after that.
I love the weekly playlist, Algy. It takes me to all kinds of neat places.
Many thanks.

Winter in America was written by Jimmy Steward, an Irish born writer who I knew very well. He lived in the street behind us in East Balmain and was part of our Vegie-group. I know it is supposed to have been a co-written product but Dough Ashdown was the musician more than the writer of lyrics.Jimmy used to write the lyrics and improve the wording while I was driving him to Flemington markets to buy the fruit and vegies for the twelve couples who were part of the vegie co-op. Jimmy was an incorrigible bon vivant, hugely likable but somewhat of a free spirit when it came to commitments of any sort. In other words, very Irish.

I never forget this song and the lyrics, beautiful.

…and Vivaldi’s Winter….simply heavenly.
I saw a TV program that was made about Vivaldi’s four seasons, the winter part happened in northern Finland, the part played by most fantastic Finnish musicians…

The beauty of doing a series on the seasons is that you have vivaldi who wrote a symphony on the four seasons. I remember the TV show on this and from memory this is a clip from it. Oh and a couple of favourites I knew you’d like.

Thanks Alge, I really enjoyed this one, must be because I like winter, or rather I like four definite seasons…I am used them 🙂
