In my secret life

Many thanks, Algy. I’m a big Paul Kelly fan. One of my favourite tunes is “To Her Door”. Cohen is a tad too melancholic for me, but songs like his “Hallelujah” are incredibly beautiful.

So am I, more so than Cohen.

I’m too near the end of the road to contemplate the beginning of it.
Have people here been off the cybersphere? Because I haven’t received any for over a week, I think. Of course it could have been my fault, suppose.
LikeLike
No, it is not your fault. Things have been a bit off. However, keep your eyes peeled!

Cohen is a Canadian Jewish poet, he spends hours getting every word right, his singing is his poetry reading.

Yes, my wording that I had just discovered this was misleading, helvi. I have an amusing memory that involves a woman who obsessively intoned at 70s parties that Cohen was the end of the the road for anybody who was mesmerised by his writing and delivery. Of course most of us really were entranced by Suzanne as a ‘popular’ tune and loved lyrics. I like the way you describe his singing is his poetry reading. That seems so accurate. xo

Another thoughtful playlist. Love Kelly but have never been ‘into’ Cohen (sorry about that, but it’s me, not him).

Ancestry is Scottish and Cornish. Though my tastes do not reflect that in much of anything I do !

Yes I have Cornish heritage as well part of the family was from Falmouth, Some came from the East end of London, a Great Grandfather was part Portuguese, I noted the Kelly’s Grandparents on his mothers side were Italian mine where on my fathers. His fathers side was Irish as was my mother, Albo has similar heritage. When growing I thought it an unusual mix however it appears quite common. I identify as being Australian.

Dance me to the end of love…
It’s was love at the first sound from Leonard, they can play this one at my funeral… 🙂
Luckily hubby is not the jealous type.
Thank you Algernon, you have made my day…

Well I knew you’d like this list Helvi.
I first discovered Leonard in the 70’s. I’m sure he toured here and was keen to go. No one would come with me they’d never heard of him. I assume you know he’s touring over the next few weeks

I like Kelly too, but FIRST things first… 🙂
Did anyone see the program about him on ABC. I thoroughly enjoyed it. A nice family, all well spoken…

Well that was the inspiration for this list. I thought Cohen was a nice complement.

My friends thought him as a ‘sad-sack’, then they saw the movie Mrs Miller and McGabe, and Cohen’s music in it won them over too…

I think he toured here in the 70’s which was my first taste, I was mesmerised. Tried to get others to go with me but no one would. So I didn’t go. He’s touring at the moment.

Funny I used the concept of being mesmerised replying to helvi above here and I had not read this comment of yours algy, that you were mesmerised. Who needs drugs. 😉
