Yes, well. disco has a lot to answer for IMHO. FM loves the music of the 80s. For me it’s a mixed bag. I’ve always been a fan of the Mentals and JoJo Zep, Racey, Bee Gees ? Not so much.
Hung, I recall that I was going more in the Ry Cooder, Springsteen, Stones direction. Although the Stones too had a woofy period and maybe my fondest memories of them are pre-80s tunes.

I’m not that much of a fan of disco, however, 1979 it was at its height. This list reflects what was popular at the time, as did last weeks.
I’m a fan of 80’s music as well. As much as I am of 60’s and 70’s. 90’s not that much and 00’s seem slim pickings. Springsteen is like fine wine get better as the years go on. He was fine wine to start. Agree about the Stones as well.
Like hung my music was more alternate than mainstream by 1979, had been since the mid 70’s.

Had to really think about what I was listening to in 1979. I was going through the back catalogue of Steely Dan albums, Led Zep, Cream and Roy Buchanan. Never liked Springsteen or the Stones but many years later became a big Ry Cooder fan.

I can see by this list that I had well and truly switched off from mainstream music by 1979.

The gremlins are about. I’d switched off most mainstream music by 1979. The thing is all on this list were top 100 for the year, somewhere.
