OK, I have a pretty limited memory, but this narrative of NSW Libnat corruption is truly staggering.
The first Libnat chucked out was 6 months into Barry O’Farrell’s new government in 2005.
Libnats were even sucked into the Obeid abyss !
And of course, Perrotett’s brother going to ground to avoid an ICAC appearance so close to tomorrow’s election. My God these people have an unlimited supply of arse.

I can well understand your disaffection as a voter. In Australia we have compulsory voting. Unless you have a good reason to not vote, you may be fined if you fail to cast a vote. Democracy whether you like it or not !
In reality few people do get penalised. I like it that nobody can say we did not get what we deserved.
And people will spoil their voting papers on purpose as a protest vote. I have scrutineered during counting and there seems to be a trend towards drawing cartoon male genitalia on the ballots as a protest 😄
We just had a unique state election which was widely predicted to be a close result, but the Labor Party smashed the Conservatives. All up we have Labor national and state governments with the exception of Tasmania – our smallest state. The last Conservative government – but Tasmania has a different process ( I think it’s called the Hare Clark system- candidate past the post wins- every other state and federal governments are chosen on preferences. E.g. say In an electorate Labor polls 46% and the conservatives Also poll 46%. And Greens polled 8%. Green preferences usually flow to Labor by 4 to 1 – so Labor would win by 52% to 48%.
This us why compulsory voting is so important.
A few Greens and and other Independents did well, but the most unusual thing was the degree of civility amongst traditional enemies. Both the outgoing and incoming leaders spoke kindly about each other and it was a contest of ideas rather than the traditional shitfight. I should point out that we now have close to 50% female representatives and this is driving a much more civilised political arena.

Sorry. Hate Clarke – candidate with the most votes wins. If there were lots of candidates, a winner might only enjoy support from only 30% of the voters – which doesn’t sound very democratic to me.
