The Big Four

Tonight’s episode marked a change in popular music styles. 1976 and 1977 saw the rise of Punk and New Wave. It also saw the Dance music or Disco become more popular. The Naked Vicar Show commenced in 1976 and Homicide ceased production in 1977 after 13 years. This episode included Alwyn Kurts in the cast. He was written out in 1974 with this one being only one of eight produced in colour.  Leonard Teale, also appeared and along with George Mallaby  and Norman Yemm were the mainstay from 1967 to 1974.

As with the others these featured as Top 100 songs somewhere. Division 4 was a police “drama” which finished production in 1975. Interestingly the final episode was shown in Sydney in September 1975 and in Melbourne where it was produced in February of 1976!
