Sche and I have a dear friend called Dickie. Last Tuesday was his birthday so Sche cooked up a transportable feast and we trekked over to Dickie’s apartment to celebrate with him. It was a wonderful evening; great food, superb company and conversation. We watched “The Kings Speech” after dinner. I loved it in spite of several reservations; and when that was over it was time for the soundtrack to the latter part of the evening. The following are a few of the tracks Dickie played. He claimed he had specially chosen them for Sche and I, though I suspect a few of his favourites crept in.

Blue Velvet does it for me, even I don’t like wearing velvet or blue. In the summer dance halls in Finland we always saved the the last dance for the favourite boy, so Save The Last Dance For Me always leads me to the memory lane, lovely…
Roberta and Donny sing as two lovers…in harmory.
As for the movie, I did not want to see it, Oscar winner and all that fuss, but I loved it, great love story, heart warming.

Foreign correspondent here. 6:30pm, 1st day. Black swan, Brighton Rock (Helen Mirren) and Unknown, were watched on the jet plane, after leaving.

I like Greenwich. Don’t know it really, but recall vaguely walking through some tunnel under the river and having lunch at a pub on a sunny day. Evokes pleasant feelings. Say hello to Wills and Cate from us.

I really enjoy the classic girl bands. The Ronettes and the Shirelles . In fact I have posted the Australian cover band “The SInglettes” who do a fine range of songs from the genre. I can post a bit more if you like VL.

Went to the farmers market in Blackheath yesterday: bought some home-made pork pies. Then had a (close to genuine pizza)..
