Tonight’s episode marked a change in popular music styles. 1976 and 1977 saw the rise of Punk and New Wave. It also saw the Dance music or Disco become more popular. The Naked Vicar Show commenced in 1976 and Homicide ceased production in 1977 after 13 years. This episode included Alwyn Kurts in the cast. He was written out in 1974 with this one being only one of eight produced in colour. Leonard Teale, also appeared and along with George Mallaby and Norman Yemm were the mainstay from 1967 to 1974.

I like Cyril and Ces on Getting Rooted, friends and I were able to carry on their conversations for hours.

I kniow that! I’ve got it somewhere on a tape! In my radio days I loved playing it in the Comedy spot. Their gardening segment on a radio programme is called Getting Rooted and Cyril and Cec are describing the something starting with S something starting with S Sap Sucker and Cyril has a bad whistle of a speech impediment. Chortle. They fall to blows over who should get the credit for a gardening guide they have written on the Sap Sucker and one of them ends the difference of opinion ruefully with the comment ‘Well, it was MY biro.” Hahahahahaha.

Sorry! Chortle. I read thre comments first. Bit dumb. See it’s on the list! And the Chook Smuggling episode! There is another beauty where she is employed as a flood level on the Brisbane River or somewhere and they put her out standing on a pole and when the water reaches a priority level she calls out the tide “…and alls well”. Another position of employment was testing the air in the mine when they put her in a cage with a little bell around her neck. 🙂

Alge, we were all too busy on the Drum and Leashed yesterday to pay any attention to your and Gerard’s new stories….
I will listen to them all after organizing some food and drink for tonight.
Funnily I did not recognise those four men in the picture….the good old Homicide blokes…

It went up last night and Gerard’s this morning. It was very kind of the mods to allow a little more play than they have this week and almost open slather. Homicide I think started my like of police dramas. I thought this one could have been an album cover as well.

Yet another very good list. Sometimes we need reminding of some songs. Many thanks for Tonight’s the Night.

All good. I especially revelled in Oxygen. I like his work–and loved his live concerts.
I haven’t played that Supertramp song, or heard it for several years… I’ll give it a spin in the morning.

I liked that as well VL, There were some really good music around in this period and Oxgene was of them. Supertramp was something an aunt bought for me once.
