G’day Algernon. What a fabulously enjoyable list. I have been working my way throught it from the first. Luxuriating too the hours I have spent last few days on computer maintenance seem to have effected a change that the links are working and operating system not crashing. What a wonderful way to spend this afternoon enjoying these fruits.
I love the first vid. of Nina Simone and the number. I love the vid that the dude made up for Allentown. Many thanks too that I will be spending a lot of hours listening to clips going through your archived folder dear Alge. 🙂

Beautiful Nina Simone, the originator of the ‘rights’ song who backed up her songs with political tours, agitation, she even made a film about the appalling treatment of coloured folk in the South. Her activities preceded the ‘modern’ peace movement by about tens years. She even refused to sing for a number of years as a protest.
There’s a Youtube video of her singing at Montreaux Jazz festival. She sings ‘My Baby Just cares for Me’, forgets the words of the last line, so slips seamlessly into a piano lead break.

She’s great isn’t she, Young gifted an black epitomises those struggles as does Sam Cooke’s A change is gonna come.

Very good list like always. ‘If I had a hammer’ was one of my favourites. Hammer handles were made of hickery wood and made in the US. Lots of tools came from America. Now from China and aren’t those hammer guns spectacular.? They use gas cartridges or compressed air.
Well done Algy.
