These all seem to be Australian bands. I’ve heard of cold chisel, but don’t know any of their songs. Midnight oil was bedeside burning, I think, and I thought that Icehose was British. I’m not sure though??

Icehouse were a Sydney Band formed in 1977. Its leader, Iva Davies went to the same high school as Junior but obviously some years later. This link might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icehouse_(band)
The list (as with the other 4 in the series) was made up from all the lists of last year, those on the lists were the most mentioned. They were grouped into logical groups were possible, 1 Soul, 2 British, 3 Female (mostly), 4 Male and this one Australian. Obviously I made this one tie into Australia Day and the long weekend.

There’s a poster suggesting that Ice House is playing at the Enmore soon, but the web site doesn’t say a thing. Curious. Sunnyboys are sold out, but Hunters and Collectors still have tix for some time in April. Steve Earl and Gregg Allman are coming later on too.

I saw Hunters, at Gold Coast, the year that I arrived in Australia. They were good.
Of all the singers who should have done well, Internationally, I reckon that John Farnham had the vocal chords.
He did have a release in The UK, but it was a flash in the pan – so to speak. I can’t remember the name of the song.

Just between you and me, I can’t do the limbo anymore. Even less possible this weekend. After all the to-and-fro of the internet business. I was under my desk and torch lighting every connection and checking again and again different things (at the behest of the ISP). My lower joints were so sore. Like I might have done a round or 10 in kick boxing ! So, I’ll just sort of groove and jiggle in tune.
I love Great Southern Land – brilliant music. Ivor Davies went on to write a lot of music for all sorts of films and stuff like that.

Iva Davies was an old boy of Juniors high school, more though of the time I went to school. Gary frost from Moving Pictures was an old boy at mine and a I recall a budding music scene between the schools in our zone (they were both boys’ high schools. I don’t think I could ever Limbo dance. I find when I’m down on the floor for the internet etc I find it hard to get up. I leave it to Junior nowadays he’s a lot faster than me doing those things.

Me too, Viv, love that song…listening to it right now, again, and too loud , again, according to Gez…

You’re nearly famous yourself with those musical connections. Lovely.
As daughters don’t live at home and are not next door I’ve got no one to get under the desk for me! Lucky you. Make the most of it while you can Algy. Daughters visit regularly for dinner and doing special jobs – clean out the roof gutters for example. They are wonderful helpers. Believe it or not – family wise – I am the techy one ! It’s just that I am not as flexible as I used to be. Crawling or crouching in small dark spaces is no longer my ‘thing’. But I will persist in having a PC and a proper keyboard. I can’t type properly on a laptop thingy. As hubby only types with one or two fingers it is not a problem for him.

I didn’t know Iva Davies but I was in a few school musicals with Gary Frost, he was a couple of years in front of me.
I let Junior do it all now, even though I can. He’s better at the trouble shooting, where I tend to get frustrated. I have a PC well a workstation, due to the software I use. My tying isn’t that good on a laptop, probably more to do with what I’m used to.

The only single by this version of Pastoral Symphony was a national Top … Jimmy Stewart went on to found”
Doctor Geoffrey Edelstein was the financier of this production outfit. Fascinating musical history!

Bit of a worry Dr Edelstein being the financier, big on ponzi schemes normally
