How long might it be oh Merv
That we sit
And wait with patience for the creamy head of your Paddy O’Furniture Stout
To rise from it’s obsidian depths
And we see you adorn it with the shamrock or the lyre ?
We have much about which to be concerned, Oh Merv
But the world in a Pig’s Arms pint canoe admits no strife or trouble
The froth, the bubble
Emergeth double.
And manifest it is to us – we hear the pipes a callin’
From Glen to Greg and maybe also Clyde
The summer’s gone and all the levers for Len
Are broken off –
So score for me a ride.
Chorus
Oh, take my back
And scratch me lightly o’er.
And run those nails –
Barely touching my backside.
The beach grows dark,
And fills the sand with shadows.
It’s time for me
To shut up shop
And come inside.

Thanks Dr HOO
I arsed aloha and picked up a little trifecta in race 2.
I did go each way on your tip and my tip at Flemington also ran third.
I wont be tipping for the punters club next week. (you have to win more than you bet to bet again), so it will be for pleasure and to help the poor souls at the TAB next week.

Pulling fingernails is one of the perks.
We wash the patients and dry them with towels
And give them enemas to clear their bowels;
and then we start all over again.

Pulling nails is a perk;
we love to watch the oldies jerk.
But their pain, is our gain.
And that is why with zeal and zest,
we also plunge things in their chests.
I could go on but I have to out. C Ya.

I’ll vouch for that. He pulled my finger nails out without any anaesthetic.

Excess brain cells are a luxury these days. I am fond of enough, and occasionally excess, and a schooner of trotters sounds like just the trick.
Thank you Sr M and Sr HOO.
Have just completed my punting duties looking for a mud runner for the punters club. $50 on No 3 Race 7 Utah Saints at Flemington and cross the fingers.

Welcome DrMick, please let us male nurses shout you a Pink Drink, or, if you’ve got excess brain cells, a Trotter’s Ale.
Sister HOO is always full of good, but succinct, advice.

Dear Mike
You know me as DRMICK.
What a fabulous website and I did not know it existed.
I am actually a Registered Nurse. My monicker was given to me 35 years ago by my peers because they could not resile the skipper of the local footy team taking up a poofters job.
I did 10 years post graduate studies in Health Administration and I currently work as the 3 IC in a 148 bed psycho-geriatric Nursing Home. It provides a window to what we all become, (but for the grace of God), and provides me with a unique and tragic insight into humanity; because it is not just them I look after, but the people that look after them as well. The Ritz in Leura was formerly the “Ritz Hotel” a Reschs Hotel owned by Mr Resch, (he had a holiday house in Leura), and converted into a Nursing Home in 1971. I joke that we are looking after the regulars who never went home, as the majority of our residents are there as a result of substance abuse and resultant frontal lobe deterioration.
I really enjoy the banter and company of the dogonaughts and i am an unabashed fan of your work; However, I always thought the Pigs Arms was a euphemism; I certainly know differently now.
The Hotel Alexandra in Leura is a 114 year old pub located on the Great Western Highway, (recently bypassed by road works), and my sons are the 4th generation of my family to drink there. Most of the characters I grew up listening to in the pub have died, and i get the job of delivering their eulogies. But it is rich in history, and a new generation of characters emerge with a change in ownership and decor. I don’t know about your raffles, but we do try to keep them straight, and the meat is top drawer.
I was favoured by the oldest drinker in there as his protege; a cantankerous Irishman, whose horse and carts delivered everything from babies on their way home from hospital, to bodies on their last ride.
He had a cruelly accurate opinion of most things and shared them with a precious few. My father was a bushie at heart and spent some of his youth and a couple of years of his married like as a stockman on his Uncles property in the McDonnell Ranges in NT. He trained trotters and drove buses. He ended up driving three generations of kids to school and many of his passengers ensured the local council named a street named after him when he died. The road is opposite the pub and was part of the roadworks that bypassed the pub.
Once i figure out how everything works,I will send you a photo and some sound bites of Blue Mountains Brass, our Tuba Quartet. We have a jazz guise and library of tunes where we add a drum and trombone to the group and revert to the “Govett Street Stompers”. We have a home made album, “Live at Govett Street” and I will send you a copy if you like.
Thanks again for the invitation to the site. See you around the traps.

Nice to meet you Dr Mick! Don’t worry about HOO and Big M; they’re really as pleased as punch to have another nurse to add to their number, in which they find a degree of safety… Anyway, nice to know that there’s always someone who knows what to do when someone overdoses on Granny’s wedges, or too much ‘Trotters Underpants Special Brew’…
Merv! Another round of Trotters’ for our new guest…
