“Tony Abbott promised us a mature, responsible, no-surprises government by now he and his mates are rampaging about like malevolent echidnas in a condom factory.”
H, I didn’t like his first show and have stopped watching ever since. I just wonder why he keeps getting new shows and me and Tutu have decided it is because he is gay.
Jonah is growing on me, he is irritating, he’s frustrating, but I’m starting to have some sympathy for him.. There are so many kids like him these days, from broken homes, from poor quality schools, it’s not really their fault , if they are a bit lost…
I keep watching, see what life has to offer him, if anything.
It was very poorly done, repetitive at best. I was a huge fan of his first production. Amazing the crew kept filming.
What is the recent obsession at the pub with making sporadic references that are referencing gay. Please declare, someone, so I can understand what is happening here?
Therese, I give most shows a go but never really liked this guys stuff. Sometimes you see local shows disappear that are good and it makes you wonder. . Anyway I have no zarking idea what you are talking about. May Gordon be with you.
I have long not been able to cope with their delivery repeating trivial phrases as if stalling for attention. He is really over the top. Years ago I was pulled up for it – age about 19 and not long out of university. I wasn’t conscious of doing it and had to think it through. I wonder if it stems directly out of that culture. Maybe that is how tutorials went (by).
For possibly a more interesting, but certainly more varied and informed commentary on the Budget, I propose The Roast Episode 36 on iView – get it while it lasts. http://iview.abc.net.au/programs/roast/LE1359H036S00#
Targeting people under 30 for special mistreatment is a pretty raw deal. Let’s face it, they’re often the ones getting screwed over in the workforce anyway. Now the additional fear factor of not being able to get even minimal income support for 6 months after losing their job means their negotiating position is even worse for those who actually have a job.
It’s appalling, many 20 somethings are supporting partners, kids, extended families, parents, etc, so don’t have the safety net of a parental home on which to fall.
I thought we had broken through this guff about the age of maturity etc and know kids are still ‘kids’ at 21, 22, 23, literally not finished growing. Makes me so sad thinking what these kids are headed for.
I think Shaun and his team are by far the best satirists in many years – way way better than the overworked Chasers. But what an embarrassment it is when they merely report the reality sans piss-extraction.
I’m a fan, but this little sketch is just a cheap shot. Abbott watches his words very, very, carefully and very obviously does so because he judges that sounding verbally challenged occasionally is less damaging politically than being successfully gotchaed.
I read the press occasionally and hear snippets on TV, and so much has been about gotchas. Who Effing Cares? It’s fun in the game of My Side Is Better/Not Worse Than Your Side, but we have football teams for that.
The Libs gave practically zero real information in support of their budget. A pathologically small amount of information. I hate that. But interviewers often don’t ASK for a justification of the budget. They’re just Looking For Gotchas and Trying To Sound Like Tough Interviewers.
And what’s with the Simple Yes/No Question? Love the theory. But in practice, it’s really the Loaded Question. Designed as a gotcha. Along the lines of how often do you beat your wife. It’s hard enough to get pollies to answer ACTUAL simple yes/no questions, but these days they’re mostly NOT simple and NOT yes/no.
Ian Bell of Fitzroy wrote this in the SMH today.

Very funny, Hoo, I just love Shaun Micallef, his is good-humoured humour, he does not overdo it like some. Of course he also has very good off-siders?
Anyone watching Joona from Tonga on ABC tonight.

Yeah, I was a bit worried about that, Hung, but I figured they wouldn’t self-identify as such anyway. At least I don’t 🙂
