This week marks 50 years since the arrival of The Beatles in Australia. I’ve prepared a two part list withs some of their music from 1962 to 1970.

Happiness is a Warm Gun is a fine bit of musical put-together. It’s not here. Just saying.
They got all us kids singing Blackbird in the shower (whistles). Teachers to my eternal confusion including Yellow Submarine in the school song charts.
I love ’em, algy. What can be more jangling along than ‘You know my name. Look up my number’. 🙂

Well when I was a kid I was a big fan but the older I got the worse the Beatles got.

I was similar, or perhaps my tastes changed. Still it was an impressive body of work.

They were a great cover band.

Please please me – goodness, barely 2 and half minutes. Didn’t realise at the time that it was really a naughty song !!! hehehe

They’re all about that long on this list. You couldn’t have a song played on the radio over 3 minutes.

My beloved grandma was the only one in my circle who saw the Beatles. She was in town in Melbourne at the time and was watching as they appeared for the crowds and waved from town hall.

Was that in Adelaide Vivenne, something like 300000 people turned out to see them there or around a 1/3 of the cities population. I know where I was when they tour, Hospital getting my tonsils out. I’d have been a few months shy of 6 at the time.

erm …. I did write Melbourne in my comment. I was of course at high school. I was 14 at the time and guess what, I’m 64 now (one of their songs!). Grandma was pretty chuffed at her good luck. I’ve been outside reading the weekend SMH in the lovely sun – nice after 3 days of good rain.

Sorry Vivenne, I was having a dog walkers moment. Scudding showers and its cold. Been trying to get washing dry between them given there’s a good breeze blowing. The only real rain we’ve had was yesterday morning. just as we were driving Junior to the airport for his first overseas trip.

Seems we both managed to miss something yesterday.
