You’re welcome vivienne. All the single female performers first up. Just enough to make a list.

I’ve become a huge fan of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings thanks to you Algy.

Well she’ll be coming up again in this series of best ofs. I’ve just read she was a backing vocal on Amy Winehouse’s Rehab.

Without a doubt…. Nasty Sinatra CANNOT sing (her Dad must be turning in his gravy) … and Kristy MacColl (of whom I have no previous knowledge) is a riot. Well done Algy !

I dunno, she has a certain style, Cranky Frankie did “Something stupid” with her. Boots was a good tune from the period. Kirsty Maccoll was cut down in her prime in a boating accident. She did a lot of backing vocals for the like of Robert Plant, The Smiths, Alison Moyet, , Simple Minds, Talking Heads and Big Country. She also collaborated with The Pogues (don’t all the good ones). “chip shop is my favourite.

Sad to lose her. But having worked with those greats was a worthy achievement in itself.
